The ‘Compagnons du devoir’ include Baguette Academy training solution to their new learning process

In September 2017, “les Compagnons du devoir” launched the experiment of a new way of learning targeting their CAP in Bakery (the French bakery diploma).
The innovation aims to allow the students to spend more time within the bakery so they to deepen their knowledge. To do so, the 2 years of training are divided into 6 periods in ‘CFA’ (training center).
APPIE program’s characteristics
In this new training program the ‘Compagnons du devoir‘ called APPIE (learning by immersion periods in a company), the time spent in the training center is reduced to 9 weeks within the 2 years of training instead of 25 weeks. The aim for the student is to spend more time within the bakery in order to be trained in a real situation and accompanied by a master.
The student is accompanied and evaluated by the master who makes sure each student acquires and validates the necessary competencies to obtain the CAP thanks to:
Digital tools, remotely
Appointments on site with the student – at least once a month – at the bakery during the training program
The period in CFA (training center) allows to complement achievements earned during the practical period and to deepen the knowledge acquired.
Baguette Academy’s input to the project
As for most craft professions, the theory is the instruction manual to practical work. Thanks to its digital training platform, Baguette Academy gives an access to 50 online courses related to the fundamentals of bakery and in line with the CAP program (French bakery diploma): ingredients, professional technics, professional culture …
Even if the students aren’t in the same room while learning (as they can do if from anywhere on a laptop, tablet or even from their smartphone) they can communicate thanks to the discussion forum on the training platform: share pictures and videos of their production, help each other on the understanding of the courses and ask questions to the apprenticeship master.
This apprenticeship master can follow the work of his students, the activities results and personalize his help to each student
The students can access the courses 7 days a week and learn at their own pace. This solution is flexible, ludic and adapted to the new generation of students.
The mix of online training and face-to-face training, called “hybrid training program” or “blended-learning”, is very efficient… and announce the coming of a revolution of the learning methods.
